Vanilla Arranged Rum
How to make a Rhum Arrangé à la Vanille: An Authentic and Exotic Recipe.
Le Rhum Arrangé à la Vanille is an exotic drink from the islands of Reunion and Madagascar. It’s a white rum in which vanilla beans and other natural ingredients (spices, fruit, sugar) are macerated. The result is a fragrant, gourmet liqueur, ideal as an aperitif or digestif.
Alcohol abuse is dangerous for your health. Consume in moderation.
Ingredients for 1 L of Rum
- 1 L white rum (ideally 40-50°)
- 2 Madagascar vanilla beans (or other origin)
- 50 g cane sugar (or honey for a sweeter version)
- 1 orange zest
Preparation
- Prepare the vanilla: Split the pods in half lengthways to release the seeds.
- Assemble ingredients: In a clean glass bottle, pour the rum, add the vanilla pods, sugar and orange zest.
- Leave to macerate: Close the bottle and leave to stand for at least 1 month in a dark place. Shake occasionally to blend flavors.
- Tasting: After maceration, filter if necessary and enjoy in moderation.
For a more flavourful arranged rum
- The longer the maceration, the more intense the aromas. 3 to 6 months is ideal!
- Add fruit for extra flavor: mango, pineapple, banana…
- Use our Vanilla Extraction Quality for an incomparable fragrance.
